Family history

A number of records previously held by the church, such as baptism, marriage and burial registers, have been securely archived at the Berkshire Record Office in Reading.  You can search the catalogue on their web-site.

The local branch of the Berkshire Family History Society has undertaken a project to accurately locate and map all of the grave sites within the church graveyard. The Society has produced a CD containing a searchable database of the memorials in the churchyard which can be purchased from the Society's shop.

There are a number of war graves for those men who fell during the First World War which are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.  The web-page contains information about the casualties buried in St Sebastian's Churchyard.  In December 2014, Rev Marsden conducted some research into Rev. Vincent Coke Boddington and Lt. Ernest Edward Haines MC, both of whom are buried in the Churchyard.  He has since researched Flight Lt. Clive Desmond Young and Pvte Puaka Whitau who are also buried in the Churchyard.

Another useful link is to the Wokingham Remembers web-site, which has undertaken research into the history of those named on the town's war memorial.
